A shortlist of candidates to be called for interview is drawn up through matching applicants with the criteria identified in the Person Specification. Successful applicants are normally contacted with interview details one week prior to the interview date. Applicants who have not been contacted within four weeks of the closing date should assume that their application has not been successful. If you wish to receive acknowledgement that we have received your application, please enclose a stamped addressed postcard for us to return to you.

The arrangements for interviewing will vary depending upon the level of the post. All applicants invited for interview will be notified in advance of the timetable for the day.
Most recruitment processes will include Personality Profiling, Psychometric Tests and often candidates will also be required to make a presentation or to undertake a case study. All applicants will be required to participate in a structured panel interview.
A combination of the above assessments is used to match the most suitable candidate with the requirements of the post.

Disclosure and Barring Service
The Council fully complies with the Disclosure and Barring Service Code of Practice, a copy of which is available on request, and undertakes to treat all applicants for positions fairly. A Disclosure is only requested for positions where a risk assessment has indicated that one is required. An assessment is undertaken to assess the relevance of any conviction to the position, including consideration of the nature of the work and the working environment.
