Mendip District Council directly employs approximately 180 staff and delivers many of its services through external contractors. It gained Investors in People status in November 1997 and has maintained it ever since.

A mark of Mendip's progressive and innovative approach is the extent to which we have embraced working in partnership and contracting. Some of our key services, including revenues, benefits, financial management and housing management are contracted out. This approach has added to the expertise available for our customers and created significant efficiency savings.

Under the leadership of Chief Executive Stuart Brown we currently directly employ about 180 people, based mainly in six groupings, Corporate Services, Law and Governance Services, Neighbourhood Services, Community Health Services, Planning and Growth Services and Housing Services.
