Low interest loans

The Council works in partnership with Wessex Resolutions Community Interest Company to provide low interest loans to home owners so they can fund essential home improvements.  The aim of the loan scheme is to assist households, especially those who are vulnerable and have limited access to finance, to be able to fund necessary improvements to their home so that it provides a safe and healthy place to live. 

Loans of up to £25,000.00 are available, subject to affordability, based on an assessment by Wessex Resolutions CIC.

Interest free loan to help with heating fuel costs

Borrow up to £500 to help spread the cost of buying expensive fuels such as oil, LPG, coal and wood. So fill up your tank fuel stores now and look forward to a warm winter.

Disabled Facilities Grant

Disabled Facilities Grant is a mandatory grant to help people with disabilities to remain in their own homes by providing adaptations or specialist equipment.

The Disabled Facilities Grants is a mandatory grant to help people with disabilities to remain in their own homes by providing adaptations or specialist facilities.

These grants are only available to people who are referred to the Council by the Occupational Therapist from Somerset County Council.

Maximum Assistance available - £30,000.

Safer homes assistance

Safer homes assistance, through discretionary grants and loans, is designed to provide help with the cost of work to make homes safer, healthier and warmer.

The assistance is aimed primarily at vulnerable households on lower income who otherwise may not be able to afford to complete essential improvements to their home. Please see the factsheet below for more details on eligibility and how to apply.
