Discretionary Rate Relief

We are able to consider awarding additional relief to certain types of businesses, through a scheme known as Discretionary Rate Relief.

Businesses the Council may provide further support for are: Charities; Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC's); Non-Profit Making Organisations and certain public houses, villages shops and petrol stations in Rural Areas.  In addition, the Council is also able to consider awarding discretionary relief to certain businesses who are suffering hardship.

The Government announced in the 2017 budget that there should be a new discretionary relief to help those most affected by the 2017 revaluation. Please see revaluation 2017 for further information. Please contact out NNDR office if you want to discuss what help is available and for making any payment arrangements.

For 2019/20 and 2020/21 there is also retail relief on certain properties that are wholly or mainly used for retail.  Details are in the Policy (under Documents)
