Council chief raises over £1000 with cycle ride
Mendip District Council Chief Executive, Stuart Brown, has raised over a £1000 for charity following a 100 mile cycle ride.
Stuart Brown together with his son Ben took on the Ride London to Surrey event at the end of July and in doing so they have raised over £1000 to be shared between Alzheimer's Society and Mendip's Charity of the Year, Mendip YMCA.
The pair completed the race together, with only one minor stop on the route for Stuart to fix a puncture on Ben's bike.
RideLondon- Surrey 100 started in the Queen Olympic Park and followed a 100 mile cycle ride through the capital and into Surrey's stunning countryside.
Stuart Brown, Chief Executive of Mendip District Council, said; "I am delighted with the money that we have raised for the two charities and would like to thank everyone who has supported me with words of encouragement and donations.
"The staff at Mendip have been fundraising for Mendip YMCA all year as our Charity of the Year and it's great to be able to contribute my share with the money raised by the ride."
Last year the pair completed the 46 mile ride in London together, but this year they wanted to up the challenge by taking on the 100 mile route and plans are already in place for 2019.
There is still time to support Stuart on his challenge, please visit his JustGiving page if you would like to donate: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stuartbrown2018
