This Plan allocates additional sites for housing, employment and community facilities across Mendip. There are additional policies identifying Local Green Spaces and existing Employment Sites. The plan contains a draft policy to promote Self and Custom build housing. The Council is consulting on a separate Supplementary Planning Document which gives more details on how the policy would work in practice.
The Council no longer produce a single Annual Monitoring Report but information on development activity and other indicators are published on this page as it is updated. The last comprehensive report (from 2009-2012) can be found in the documents section below. Monitoring is used to track progress against objectives and targets in the Local Plan, inform planning decisions and appeals and support neighbourhood planning.
The Mendip Local Plan is being developed from a range of evidence drawing in a range of information sources. Within the published documents, web links to relevant studies and sources are provided to enable readers to understand the justification for certain statements and policy approaches.
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) provide additional information and guidance on Local Plan policies and supporting text. This could include guidance needed on the information associated with an application , the Council's approach to a policy or interpretation.
The District Council adopted its Statement of Community Involvement on 11th November 2013.
